Week ending 15th May 2009

This week we have been really busy. All week has been testing week and we are all really really tired.

We were tested on reading, both fiction and non-fiction. Writing, both fiction and non-fiction. We also had to complete a spellings test and a very long maths paper!

Everyone was so eager to make sure that they have shown that they have made alot of improvement this year.

In the afternoon, we have been working on our Roman’s project. Our team work is developing and we are learning to get along much better. Ms Jones feels like we have really learnt something. But she is not so sure about some of the old fashioned recipes…… Fried spinal cord of eel!!!????? No thanks!

All children should now of have returned their swimming letters, as we plan to start swimming lessons the first week back. If you have not yet returned it, please get a move on!

Everyone who is taking part in the W Factor has been practising their acts. We have asked Ms jones to take part in a street dance but she won’t.

Anyway, tickets are now on sale from the school office. They are priced at £2 for adults and £1 for children

This week we have been finishing our science work

week ending 1st May 2009

This week we have been working on science for most of our lessons in the afternoon. The topic we are covering is ‘ Friction and Forces’

Some of the experiments that we have done are tsting to see if boats with different shaped hulls can move faster through the water. The boat with the pointed front was able to move more quickly. We had a great time doing it but Ms Jones spilt the water when she was trying to empty the huge water trough.

We also tested to see if plastercine sank more quickly in different shapes. We found out that is a cone shape or one which has holes in it sinks more quickly. After this we tested our own dive bombers to see who could make the fastest divebomber. We have yet to test all of them.

We welcomed our new trumpet teacher, Mr Weston. He was really nice and we think that we will make alot of progress with him.

Auditions for the ‘W fACTOR’ were held at school this week. The auditions were all really good from 4J. Good luck to all the children who get through to the next round.

More next week
